What Is EPDM Flooring?
EPDM flooring is a coloured, UV-stable synthetic rubber surface used for playgrounds, outdoor areas and sports surfaces. It is laid as poured-in-place wet-pour safety surfacing or as rubber tiles, cushions falls, drains water and resists fading in the sun. Critical fall heightThe surface is specified to the height children could fall from the equipment, the taller the equipment, the deeper the surface.
Depth and protectionA low toddler frame may need around 40mm, while tall climbing equipment can need 90mm or more to absorb the impact safely.

Is EPDM flooring good for UAE outdoors and playgrounds?
Yes, it is one of the best outdoor choices. EPDM is UV-stable, so it holds its colour in strong UAE sun where cheaper rubber fades and cracks, and it drains water and cushions falls. That makes it ideal for playgrounds, pool surrounds and sports areas. We specify the right grade and depth for each site.
What is wet-pour rubber and how does it work?
Wet-pour is rubber surfacing poured and troweled in place: a shock-absorbing SBR base topped with a coloured EPDM wear layer. It cures into a continuous, trip-free surface that can follow any shape and colour design, which is why it is the standard for playgrounds and bespoke safety areas.
How does playground flooring protect children from falls?
The surface absorbs the impact of a fall, and its depth is set to the height a child could fall from the equipment, known as the critical fall height. Taller equipment needs a deeper surface. We measure the fall zones and specify the correct depth for the equipment height.
How much does playground or EPDM flooring cost in Dubai?
As an indicative guide, EPDM tiles run from around AED 90/sqm (about AED 8.4/sqft), and wet-pour from about AED 120 to 250/sqm (about AED 11.1 to 23.2/sqft) depending on the depth needed for the fall height. Area and base condition also matter. Request a free site visit.

Wet-pour gives a continuous, custom-shaped surface with no joins, ideal for playgrounds and bespoke designs. EPDM tiles are modular, quicker to lay and liftable, better for smaller areas, rooftops and pool surrounds. We recommend the right option for your site and budget.
Is EPDM flooring slip-resistant and safe for splash pads?
Yes. EPDM is slip-resistant even when wet and lets water drain through, which makes it well suited to splash pads, pool surrounds and wet play areas. It is also soft and barefoot-friendly, adding comfort and safety around water.
What colours and designs are available?
EPDM comes in a wide palette of colours, and wet-pour lets us create patterns, borders, play markings, logos and number or game graphics within the surface. It is one of the most design-flexible floors we install, which suits schools, parks and branded spaces.
