Wall-to-wall carpet in a Dubai living room

What Is Carpet Flooring?

Carpet flooring is a soft floor covering made from woven or tufted fibres, fitted wall to wall or cut to size. It adds warmth, comfort and sound insulation, and comes in wool, synthetic and natural-fibre options in any colour. Urban Flooring supplies and fits carpet across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, for homes, offices and commercial spaces.

From broadloom carpet on the roll to made-to-measure room carpet for a single bedroom, the principle is the same: the right fibre and pile, measured and fitted properly, give you a warm, quiet, comfortable floor that lasts. The rest of this page covers how to choose.

Types of Carpet by Pile and Construction

The pile, meaning how the fibres are cut or looped, decides how a carpet feels, wears and looks. Cut pile is soft and plush for bedrooms and living rooms, loop pile is low and tight for hallways and stairs, and cut-and-loop textures hide footprints in busy family rooms. Most carpet is tufted; woven carpet is the premium construction.

Textured cut and loop carpet

Cut & Loop / Textured

Hides marks A mix of cut and looped fibres giving patterned texture that disguises footprints and vacuum lines, versatile for busy family homes.
Woven and tufted carpet construction

Woven & Tufted

How it is made Most carpet is tufted, with fibres punched into a backing, while woven carpet is more premium. A carpet's weight and density are the clearest signs of how it will wear: a heavier, denser carpet, measured in ounces per square yard, resists crushing and lasts longer, so it is worth checking alongside the fibre.

Carpet performance is also classified by a published standard. EN 1307 grades textile floor coverings by durability class and comfort class, so a specification can call for a grade rather than a guess. Ask for the class on any carpet you are quoted, and we will give you ours.

Formats: broadloom rolls for wall-to-wall coverage, plus custom-cut and large carpet sizing for area pieces.

Carpet Materials and Fibres

Fibre choice drives comfort, durability, price and how the carpet copes with UAE conditions. Wool is the premium natural fibre, warm underfoot and naturally flame resistant. Nylon is the most resilient synthetic for busy areas, polyester is softer and stain resistant for quieter rooms, and sisal, jute and seagrass bring an organic, textured character.

Wool carpet fibre

Wool

Natural and premium Natural, soft and durable, wool is the premium choice. It feels warm underfoot, breathes well, is naturally flame resistant, and lasts 15 to 20 years or more with care. Wool carpet suits bedrooms and living rooms where comfort matters most.
Synthetic nylon and polyester carpet

Synthetic (Nylon & Polyester)

Affordable and practical Affordable and practical, synthetic carpet is the everyday choice. Nylon carpet is the most resilient for busy areas, while polyester carpet is soft and stain resistant for lower-traffic rooms. Many synthetic carpets are solution-dyed, with the colour locked into the fibre, so they resist fading under strong UAE sunlight near windows.
Natural fibre sisal, jute and seagrass carpet

Natural Fibres (Sisal, Jute, Seagrass)

Earthy and textured Earthy and textured, sisal carpet, jute carpet and seagrass bring an organic, eco-friendly character, well suited to relaxed and natural interiors.

For a luxury accent there is silk carpet, and we also supply rattan-look and rubber-backed carpet where extra grip and cushioning help.

Where Carpet Works Best

Carpet suits some rooms better than others. Here is where it earns its place. It belongs in living rooms, bedrooms, majlis and formal rooms, hallways and stairs, where warmth, quiet and comfort matter. It does not belong in kitchens, bathrooms or any wet area, where a waterproof hard floor is the right call.

Carpet FAQs

Which carpet is best for homes in Dubai?

For most UAE homes, a quality synthetic or wool-blend carpet works well: it is comfortable, hard-wearing and suits rooms under constant air conditioning. Wool suits bedrooms and living rooms wanting a premium feel, while synthetic suits busy or budget spaces. We advise on the best fit during your free measurement.

Wool or synthetic carpet, which should I choose?

Wool is natural, soft, durable and premium, lasting 15 to 20 years or more, ideal for bedrooms and living rooms. Synthetic, like nylon and polyester, is more affordable and stain resistant, better for busy areas and tighter budgets. We help you weigh comfort, durability and cost during your visit.

Is carpet a good choice in the UAE climate?

Yes, in air-conditioned interiors. Carpet adds warmth, comfort and sound insulation, and performs well in cooled UAE homes and offices. For humid or wet areas, hard flooring suits better. We help you choose carpet for the right rooms and pair it with other floors where needed.

Can carpet be fitted over existing tiles?

Yes, in most cases. Carpet is fitted over tile with underlay and gripper, which avoids the cost and mess of removing the tile. The tile must be sound, dry and reasonably level first, and loose or cracked tiles need attention before fitting. We check the existing floor during your free measurement.

How much does carpet cost in Dubai?

As an indicative guide, supply and fit ranges from around AED 30/sqm (about AED 2.8/sqft) for budget synthetic up to AED 450/sqm (about AED 42/sqft) or more for premium wool and natural fibres. Final cost depends on fibre, pile weight and area. Request a free measurement.

What is the best carpet for high-traffic areas?

Loop-pile and quality synthetic carpets handle traffic best. Their tight construction resists crushing and wear in hallways, stairs and busy family rooms. For very heavy commercial use, contract-grade options suit better. We recommend the right pile and fibre for each space during your measurement.

Is carpet easy to keep clean?

Modern synthetic carpets are stain resistant and easy to vacuum and spot-clean, and wool is naturally stain resistant too. Regular vacuuming and occasional deep cleaning keep carpet fresh. We provide care guidance on handover so your carpet stays looking good for years.

Do you offer custom sizes and wall-to-wall fitting?

Yes. We cut and fit carpet wall to wall, and supply custom sizes for any room shape, including hallways, stairs and odd-shaped spaces. Our team measures accurately and fits with proper underlay and seaming for a clean, lasting finish across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

How long does carpet installation take?

Most single rooms are fitted in a few hours once materials are on site. A full apartment or villa takes one to several days depending on area, stairs and how much old flooring has to come up. Commercial fit-outs are scheduled around your programme. We confirm a timeline with your quote.

Do you supply only, or also install?

Both. Urban Flooring is a supply-and-installation company. One team handles fibre and colour advice, measurement and fitting, so there is a single point of accountability. Supply-only orders are possible if you have your own fitter. Free site measurement comes as standard.
