Vinyl flooring is a synthetic, waterproof floor covering made from layered PVC, available as planks, tiles, sheet or rolls. It suits the UAE climate because it resists water, humidity and heavy traffic, installs quickly and costs less than wood or stone. Urban Flooring has supplied and fitted vinyl across Dubai and Abu Dhabi since 2013.
Vinyl is the most popular resilient floor in UAE homes for a simple reason: it copes with how people actually live here. Constant air conditioning, balcony sand and busy households are no problem for a waterproof vinyl flooring surface that wipes clean.
It also adapts to any room. Vinyl tiles work in entrances and bathrooms, while vinyl plank flooring brings a wood look to living areas and bedrooms, all at a fraction of timber's cost.
Vinyl comes in several constructions, and the right one depends on the room, the traffic and your budget. In practice we fit a mix per home rather than one type throughout: rigid cores in kitchens and busy areas, warmer options in bedrooms, and sheet in wet utility spaces. It is a room-by-room call, and here is how the types differ.

Vinyl plank flooring gives a wood look with click-fit ease, the popular pick for Dubai apartments and villas. Vinyl sheet flooring and vinyl flooring rolls cover wet areas, clinics and rentals with continuous, near-jointless coverage. Wood-look choices, from vinyl wood planks to vinyl hardwood flooring, bring timber character without the upkeep.
For extra stability, rigid core vinyl flooring, also sold as rigid vinyl plank or engineered vinyl plank flooring, holds its shape over uneven subfloors. Rigid-core vinyl comes in two main types: SPC, with a denser stone-polymer core, and WPC, with a warmer, softer wood-polymer core. Click-lock and waterproof vinyl click flooring let us fit most rooms quickly. We supply and fit every format and advise on the right one.
Comparing materials? Vinyl sits between laminate and real wood on price and performance. People sometimes search vinyl laminate flooring or laminate vinyl plank when they mean wood-look vinyl, while engineered wood and solid timber are the real thing. See wood flooring and laminate flooring to weigh them up. For a full side-by-side, see our guide on vinyl vs laminate.
| Type | Core or format | Feel underfoot | Best for |

| PVC sheet | Flexible sheet or tile | Soft | Wet areas, clinics, rentals, budget rooms |
| VCT | Composition tile | Hard | Schools, retail, heavy commercial |
Every type above is fitted by us. Follow the links in the cards for full detail on each.
Vinyl is not one look. It spans wood and stone effects, plain colours, decorative patterns and gloss, matte or textured vinyl flooring finishes, across plank, tile, sheet and roll, including vinyl wood plank flooring and parquet vinyl flooring.
For a softer feel underfoot, carpet-effect vinyl, sometimes called vinyl carpet flooring, gives the warmth of carpet with the easy maintenance of vinyl.

Vinyl comes in a wide range of colours and effects. These are six of the most popular looks we fit across UAE homes and offices, from light grey and white oak to walnut, stone and black.

Cool, light and modern. The most popular vinyl tone for contemporary interiors.

Pale, bright and airy. Opens up smaller rooms and suits minimalist schemes.

Warm honey and beige tones. A classic wood look that works in any room.

Rich deep brown with strong grain. Adds warmth and a premium feel.

Grey stone and marble effects in tile format, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms.

Deep near-black tones. Bold and dramatic, striking against light walls.
Beyond these, vinyl is available in green, terrazzo and patterned looks, with custom shades matched to your scheme. Ask to see full samples during your free measurement.
Vinyl works in the UAE because it is waterproof, dimensionally stable under air conditioning and far cheaper than wood or stone. It handles the humidity of kitchens and bathrooms, takes heavy villa and office traffic without marking, and click-fit formats let most rooms be fitted in hours rather than days.
Vinyl suits more spaces than almost any other floor. Its waterproof core and tough wear layer make it work from family bathrooms to busy retail floors, residential and commercial alike. The deciding factor is rarely the room, it is the traffic and the moisture. Wet and heavy-traffic areas take a rigid core such as SPC, quiet rooms take a softer LVT or WPC, and continuous sheet suits clinics and rentals where joints are a problem.

Not sure which vinyl suits your space? Choosing alone, people often pick by colour and overlook the wear layer, which is what really decides how long a floor lasts in a busy room. We match the format and finish to how the room is used, and advise on both during your free site measurement.
Vinyl flooring is measured two ways, and it helps to know the difference. Total thickness is the whole board, from 2mm to 8mm. The wear layer is the thin clear top coat that resists scratches, measured in mils. A thicker board is not automatically better, the wear layer and core quality matter just as much.
Vinyl construction is covered by a published standard. EN ISO 10582 specifies how heterogeneous PVC floor coverings are classified and tested, including how wear layer and durability are graded. Ask for the wear layer figure in mils or millimetres on any product you are quoted, and we will give you ours.
We match the thickness and wear layer to your room, traffic and subfloor during a free site visit.
Vinyl flooring price depends on construction, thickness, finish and area. As an indicative supply-and-fit guide, here is the typical vinyl flooring cost in Dubai, including the cost of vinyl plank flooring, with a per-sqft reference.
| Type | Per sqm (AED) | Per sqft (AED approx) |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet / standard | 40 to 90 | 3.7 to 8.4 |
| Vinyl plank | 50 to 110 | 4.6 to 10.2 |

Proper fitting is what makes vinyl last, and it runs in five steps: a free consultation on material and budget, a free site measurement with a written quote, samples brought to you, professional installation by click-fit, glue-down or sheet, and care guidance on handover.

On the fitting side, the subfloor decides everything: clean, dry and level before a plank goes down. Most problems we are called back to fix trace to skipped subfloor prep, which is why we never rush it.

natural timber and wood-look floors for dry interiors.
a budget-friendly wood-look alternative.
the outdoor composite option for terraces and pools.
Choose by traffic and moisture, not by room name. SPC suits kitchens, hallways and commercial floors where dents and water are the risk. WPC and LVT suit bedrooms and living rooms where comfort and quiet matter more. PVC sheet suits clinics, rentals and wet areas needing near-jointless cover. VCT suits heavy commercial budgets.
As an indicative guide, supply and fit runs from around AED 40/sqm (about AED 3.7/sqft) for standard sheet vinyl up to AED 160/sqm (about AED 15/sqft) for premium LVT. Final cost depends on construction, thickness and area. Request a free measurement for an exact quote.
Most modern vinyl is fully waterproof, including SPC, LVT and sheet vinyl, which makes it well suited to kitchens, bathrooms and humid UAE spaces under constant air conditioning. Construction matters, so we confirm the waterproof rating of your chosen product during your free measurement.
All three are vinyl. LVT is luxury vinyl tile or plank with realistic finishes. SPC is rigid vinyl with a stone-composite core, the most dent and water resistant. Standard vinyl comes as sheet or plank. We help you compare them side by side before you choose.
Quality vinyl lasts roughly 10 to 25 years depending on the wear layer, traffic and maintenance. SPC and premium LVT sit at the longer end. In UAE conditions, kept clean and under air conditioning, a well-fitted vinyl floor holds up well in homes and commercial spaces.
Quality vinyl uses a UV-cured wear layer that resists fading indoors, including in bright, sun-facing rooms behind glass. Prolonged direct sun on an unshaded floor will still cause gradual colour change over years, as it does with wood. Vinyl is not an outdoor product; for terraces and balconies we fit WPC decking.
Often yes. Click-fit vinyl and rigid-core planks can lay over sound, level tile, which avoids removal cost and mess. The subfloor must be clean, dry and flat first. We assess your existing floor during the free measurement and advise whether preparation is needed.
Yes, in most cases. Click-fit planks and tiles can be lifted and swapped individually, so a single damaged board is replaced without touching the rest of the floor. Sheet vinyl is patched, or the affected section replaced. We recommend keeping a small box of spare material from your original order for exactly this reason.
Most residential rooms are fitted in a few hours to a day once materials are on site. A full apartment or villa takes one to several days depending on area and subfloor prep. Commercial fit-outs are scheduled around your programme. We confirm a timeline with your quote.
Yes. Vinyl handles villas, offices, retail and hospitality well thanks to its wear layers and waterproof core. For busy commercial sites we usually recommend SPC or contract-grade LVT. We advise on the right specification for the traffic and use during your visit.
Both. Urban Flooring is a supply-and-installation company. One team handles material advice, measurement and fitting, so there is a single point of accountability. Supply-only orders are possible if you already have your own installer. Free site measurement comes as standard with fitted projects.
Since 2013 we have supplied and fitted hygienic, slip-resistant flooring for hospitals and developer projects across the UAE. Slip resistance is a graded property. Wet-area ratings run from R9 to R13 under DIN 51130, with R10 and above commonly specified for hospital corridors, commercial kitchens and wet rooms. We supply to the rating a project specification calls for.
