The Project
Costa Brava is one of the themed clusters at DAMAC Lagoons in Dubai. The owners wanted the main living and dining space lifted with a floor that reads as a design feature rather than a background, without changing the panelled walls or the tiled areas beyond. Chevron was the answer: one pale oak tone, laid large-format, running in a single direction across the whole space. We supplied and installed the flooring, so one team owned the result from measurement to the finished floor.
Large-Format Chevron in a Pale Oak Tone
Chevron is a parquet pattern in which the plank ends are cut at an angle so that two rows meet point to point and form a continuous V. It differs from herringbone, where rectangular planks meet at a 90-degree angle and step in a zig-zag. Chevron reads as the more contemporary of the two and gives a long room a strong sense of direction, which is why it suits an open living and dining space like this one.
The planks here are wide and long, so the V repeats across the room at a generous scale instead of a busy one. The pale, lightly whitewashed oak tone keeps a big space feeling open and picks up the cream wall panelling rather than fighting it. Wood-look SPC in this format is a rigid-core vinyl: fully waterproof, stable in Dubai's heat and quiet underfoot, which is what makes the pattern practical rather than precious.

Cutting Chevron into a Real Room
Chevron is the least forgiving pattern to fit, because every perimeter cut is an angle and the V has to stay true across the whole floor. Here it runs cleanly to the wall lines, holds its direction from the balcony doors through to the far end of the dining area, and meets the existing tiled floor at the doorway with a straight, tight threshold. Getting that junction right is the difference between a chevron floor that looks bought and one that looks fitted.
