What Is PVC Flooring?
PVC flooring, also called sheet vinyl or vinyl roll flooring, is flexible vinyl supplied in wide continuous rolls and laid as a near-continuous, water-resistant surface. PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride, so PVC flooring and polyvinyl chloride flooring are the same thing.

PVC Plank
Budget wood look Budget wood-look planks, an affordable entry point to a timber look, sometimes sold as PVC wood flooring, PVC hardwood flooring or PVC laminate flooring. Available in oak and grey tones and parquet-look layouts.Homogeneous commercial sheet has its own specification, EN ISO 10581, which sets the requirements and test methods for single-layer PVC floor coverings. Because the material is identical through the full thickness, wear does not expose a different layer underneath, which is why it is specified where a floor has to last and stay hygienic. Sheet/Roll PVC or Vinyl Planks?
Both are vinyl. The choice is roll-format value versus plank-format realism. Sheet and roll PVC comes in wide rolls with few seams, costs the least of any vinyl, and feels soft and cushioned underfoot. Vinyl planks are rigid, click together, and carry a far more realistic wood or stone print at a higher price. Choose sheet for wet areas, rentals and tight budgets, planks for living areas and premium looks.

PVC and sheet vinyl in Dubai runs from around AED 22/sqm to AED 180/sqm or more (about AED 2.0 to 16.7/sqft) supplied and fitted, which makes it the cheapest entry point of any floor we fit. Sheet and roll are loose-laid or glued for a continuous finish, and because sheet vinyl telegraphs every bump beneath it, the subfloor is smoothed first. Commercial sheet has its seams heat-welded for a watertight, hygienic join. Interlocking tiles snap together with no adhesive, and click planks float over a sound subfloor. Is PVC flooring the same as sheet vinyl?
Yes. PVC flooring, sheet vinyl and vinyl roll flooring are different names for the same product: flexible vinyl supplied in wide continuous rolls. PVC, polyvinyl chloride, is the material it is made from. The terms are used interchangeably, while "vinyl" can also include premium plank ranges like LVT and SPC.
Sheet vinyl or vinyl planks (LVT/SPC), which should I choose?
Sheet vinyl is the budget, near-continuous, soft-underfoot roll, best for wet areas, rentals and tight budgets. Vinyl planks like SPC and LVT are rigid, click-fit and far more realistic, better for living areas and high traffic. Sheet wins on price and water resistance; planks win on looks and durability. Is PVC and sheet vinyl water-resistant, and good for bathrooms?
Yes. PVC and sheet vinyl is water-resistant because it is made from polyvinyl chloride, which does not absorb water, and wide rolls leave few or no seams. That makes it well suited to kitchens, bathrooms, clinics and other wet or humid spaces common across the UAE.
Can sheet vinyl be laid without seams?
Often, yes. Sheet vinyl comes in wide rolls, commonly 2, 3 and 4 metres, so many rooms are covered with no seams at all. Where a join is needed in larger or commercial areas, we heat-weld the seam for a water-tight, hygienic finish. A smooth subfloor matters, as sheet shows bumps underneath.
Why does my sheet vinyl show every bump in the floor underneath?
That is telegraphing, and it is the one thing that decides whether a sheet vinyl floor looks good. Sheet is thin and flexible, so it takes the shape of whatever is beneath it: a screw head, a tile edge, a patch of dried adhesive. There is no fixing it afterwards, which is why we smooth and level the subfloor before the sheet goes down rather than after.
What is PVC carpet?
PVC carpet is a common name for PVC sheet flooring that comes on a roll, like carpet. It is not textile carpet. It is a hard, water-resistant PVC surface used in offices, exhibitions and utility areas, chosen for being cheap, durable and easy to lay over large floors.
