Custom-Made or Ready-Made: Which Suits You?
Ready-made rugs come in standard sizes and are the quicker, cheaper option. Custom-made rugs are measured and produced to your room: any size, shape, colour, border or material. If a standard size fits your room, there is no reason to pay for custom, and we will say so.
Custom rugs suit majlis rooms, odd-shaped spaces, large villa living rooms, corridors that need an exact length, and anywhere a standard rug leaves awkward gaps or overhangs.
The trade-off is time and cost. Ready-made is available now; custom takes production time and costs more, but fits properly. We advise on which makes sense once we have seen the space.
Rug Sizes, Shapes and Materials We Supply
This section covers the three decisions that set a rug's price: size, shape and fibre. Standard UAE sizes run from 80 x 150 cm (about 2'7" x 4'11") accent rugs up to 300 x 400 cm (about 9'10" x 13'1") room rugs, rectangular is the default shape, and the fibre decides how the rug feels, wears and cleans.
Common sizes
Standard UAE rug sizes run from small accent rugs at 80 x 150 cm (about 2'7" x 4'11") through mid sizes like 160 x 230 cm (about 5'3" x 7'7") and 200 x 290 cm (about 6'7" x 9'6"), up to large room sizes at 240 x 340 cm (about 7'10" x 11'2") and 300 x 400 cm (about 9'10" x 13'1"). Anything outside those, we make to measure.
Shapes
Rectangular is standard. We also supply round rugs, squares, ovals and irregular shapes cut and bound to a room's dimensions.
Materials
Wool for softness, durability and natural stain resistance. Silk and viscose for sheen in low-traffic rooms. Polypropylene and other synthetics for hard-wearing, easy-clean and outdoor use. Cotton and jute for lighter, natural-fibre looks. Each has honest trade-offs, and we match the fibre to the room rather than to the price list.

Fade resistance is a measurable property, not a marketing claim. Textiles are tested for it under ISO 105-B02, which rates colour fastness to light from 1 to 8. That matters in the UAE, where a rug near glass takes strong sun for most of the year. Ask for the rating on any rug you are quoted.

The words are often used interchangeably in the UAE, but they are different products. A rug is loose, sits on your existing floor, and can be moved, cleaned or taken with you when you leave. Fitted carpet is cut to the room and fixed over underlay and gripper. Rugs suit renters and rooms where the floor underneath is worth seeing; fitted carpet suits whole-room warmth and sound.
A rug is a loose piece. It sits on top of your existing floor, defines a zone, can be moved, taken with you, sent for cleaning or swapped out. It suits renters, seasonal changes and rooms where you want to see the floor underneath.
Wall-to-wall carpet is fitted to the room, edge to edge, over an underlay. It covers the whole floor, insulates and softens the entire space, and is the better choice for full-room warmth and sound reduction, particularly in bedrooms and offices.
If you want the whole floor covered, wall-to-wall carpet is the honest recommendation, and we fit that too. If you want a defined piece you can move, a rug is the right call.

Yes, on hard floors. A rug pad stops the rug sliding, protects the floor beneath from grit and rubbing, and adds a little cushioning underfoot. It also helps the rug lie flat rather than rucking at the edges, which is the most common cause of trips. We advise on the right pad for your rug and floor.
Can I put a rug on top of fitted carpet?
Yes, and it is common in UAE villas. A rug over carpet defines a seating area, adds colour and protects the carpet beneath in the highest-traffic spot. Choose a low-pile or flat-woven rug so it sits stable rather than shifting on the pile underneath, and use a pad made for carpet rather than for hard floors.
How much do rugs cost in Dubai?
As an indicative guide, small ready-made rugs start from around AED 150, mid and large machine-made rugs typically run AED 400 to 2,500 depending on size and fibre, and hand-tufted or hand-knotted wool and silk pieces run higher again. Which rug is best for a majlis?
A large, hard-wearing rug sized to sit inside the perimeter seating, in wool for comfort or a quality synthetic for easier cleaning. Majlis rooms see heavy barefoot traffic and food and coffee service, so stain resistance and cleanability matter as much as looks. Most majlis rugs end up custom-sized.
Are your rugs suitable for outdoor use and UAE heat?
Our outdoor range is, yes. Outdoor rugs use weather-resistant synthetic fibres that cope with sun, heat and moisture and can be hosed down. Indoor rugs, particularly wool, silk and viscose, are not suitable outdoors and will fade or degrade. We will tell you which is which before you buy.
How do I clean and maintain a rug?
Vacuum regularly, blot spills straight away rather than rubbing, and rotate the rug every few months so wear and sunlight fall evenly. Wool and silk need professional cleaning; most synthetics tolerate gentle washing. We give care guidance for the specific fibre when we deliver.
